I was widowed 11 years ago and the best decision I ever made was moving to The Granton. The staff support and encourage me to use the communal spaces and participate in activities.

I have made great friendships with other residents and enjoy the in-house cinema, happy hour, games evenings and excursions together.
We are spoilt with an excellent chef – so much so that I haven’t had to cook since moving in! I also enjoy my coffee from our in-house barista.

I am thrilled that my sons encouraged my move. Safety and a sense of community were what they wanted for me and I certainly get that here.”

I utilise the housekeeping services including cleaning. I’ve been thinking about my shopping too because I find carrying things just a little bit much at the moment. But otherwise, I’m pretty independent. Living here, you don’t lift a finger. Everything is there for you. When I first moved in, I did all my own cooking. Now, I don’t. I have a few meals a week in the bistro and the meals are very good. When you’re here, you’re never lonely. If you come down for a cup of tea, there’s always someone that’ll come and join you. I’ve made some beautiful friendships here. I’ve never regretted a moment of making the move!”
